Class Memories From 1956

I'm not really sure of the exact dates because my family decided to move to Brentwood before I could graduate. I do remember my English teacher, Miss Gropper, who then married and became Mrs. Robinson. I remember my music teacher, Miss Gianopoulos, we called her Miss G. I have long since moved around quite a bit but I will always remember Lindenhurst. It was a wonderful place to be back in the 50's. I remember the Campus Soda Shop, right next to Lindy High, The Station Cafe, the A&P, Our Lady of Perpetual Help and John's Bargain Store. I remember the Lindenhurst Movie Theater where my brother James and I saw Love Me Tender and Loving You, two of Elvis Presley's earliest movies. I remember when Lindenhurst was still country and my brother and I spent many hours walking through the woods and discovering what everyone referred to as skunk cabbage. We left our doors unlocked back then and never felt afraid. I lived in a big old house at 322 Kansas Street, almost surrounded by woods. I remember hanging out with CarolAnn Murphy, Janet Thomas and sometimes her older sister Valerie and also Claudette Gravel. My fondest memories are of Lindenhurst, my brother, James, my friends, my teachers and of course Lindy High
